Visual Inspection of cores

Visual Inspection of cores

Cores extracted from pavements of flexible, rigid or composite construction can be subject to visual examination in our laboratory.  Cores are examined by technical staff to visually identify material type,  layer thickness and assessment of aggregate type, voids and discernible defects. PAK marker testing is often undertaken to aged bituminous materials to identify the presence of tar within the sample.

Inspection is undertaken by Nicholls Colton Group’s fully equipped *UKAS accredited testing laboratory No. 0320 and *MCERTS accredited laboratory which can undertake a wide range of materials testing.
