Undrained shear strength in triaxial compression

Undrained Shear Strength

Undrained shear strength in triaxial compression without measurement of pore pressure – providing information into the mechanical properties of a soil sample, this testing determines the undrained shear strength (total stress) of a cohesive soil under a constant confining pressure and with axial loading. No change in total moisture content is allowed.  Testing can be carried out on sample sizes of nominally 38mm and 110mm and can be carried out on a single sample at one confining pressure, or on a set of similar specimens at varying confining pressures.  Samples can be provided undisturbed or recompacted in the laboratory with results of this testing, expressed in Kilopascals.
