Trial pits and coring, regenerating Bristol.

We dug trial pits and took core samples to investigate an old school building wall as part of Bristol City Council’s regeneration program. The wall in question is the boundary wall to the former old school building which was recently renovated into flats. It sits within a regeneration area in Bristol and we were employed by Peter Brett consulting engineers on behalf of their client Bristol City Council to dig trial pits to inspect the wall foundations and to take cores to assess the wall construction.

The original stone section of the wall is very old but has locally been increased in height in both brick and blockwork construction and has been rendered and subsequently covered in graffiti. The wall is positioned adjacent to a proposed new highway and it’s structural integrity is obviously a key issue.
