Alex Warwick- BEng CEng MICE SiLC

As the Chairman Alex is responsible for the Strategic management of the business.

Alex is a renowned and exciting drummer playing in both UK and Germany. He has just been nominated for International E-Drummer of the Year – a title which recognises an ambassador for electronic drums. He has a significant YouTube presence (150 drumming videos, 3000 subscribers and 2M views), where he has a very enthusiastic following of drummers, other musicians and music fans. He is the drummer for the highly acclaimed international collaboration ‘iGenesis’, a Genesis Tribute Band that exists only on YouTube and  plays in various bands, the most high profile of which is ‘Montys Travellin Music Show International’. 


Guy Anderson- I Eng MICE CMIOSH

As the Business Support Director Guy has responsibility for providing the strategic direction and support  to the business with regards to the management of Health & Safety, Quality, Environment, and Human Resource. 

Guy has over 37 years experience of all aspects of the business operations with particular involvement in materials testing and the specialist inspection and testing of structures and structural elements, and Health & Safety management. 

In his spare time Guy enjoys Cycling and making a nuisance of himself on a Tennis court!

Ian Hughes- BSc in Materials Science and Technology

As an account manager Ian is responsible for sales and marketing strategy at Nicholls Colton Group Ltd as well as generating new business and looking after existing clients.

Ian has successfully carried out a variety of sales and marketing roles, across a range of industries. From selling cider to pubs for HP Bulmer, managing Press and PR activity for Michelin, running a knitwear business and working for a leading creative agency.  He has a wealth of business, sales and marketing experience. In his spare time Ian is a keen tennis player. 

James Gane- BSc (Hons) Analytical Chemistry

As data logistics manager James is responsible for…..

James has over 15 years’ experience working within a commercial laboratory environment and has developed a strong understanding of how best to provide a comprehensive efficient service to Nicholls Colton’s client base. In his spare time James……….

John Davies -Bsc (Hons) Construction Management, SMSTS (CSCS), Confined Space, Iosh 

As the Technical Manager John is responsible for overseeing day to day management of the Structures and Pavement team

With over 20 years experience working within the Civil Engineering, Rail and Water industry sectors John has managed a number of large project teams throughout the UK.

During his childhood John attended “William Brooke’s school Much Wenlock .Brooke’s is known for inspiring the modern Olympic Games. The mascot for the London 2012 Summer Olympics was named  Wenlock after Much Wenlock.

Kevin Willfratt – QUALS?????

As the Principal Feo-environmental engineer Kevin is responsible for overseeing the day to day and commercial running of the Geotechnical department.

Kevin  has over 20 years experience of carrying out ground investigations,  and is responsible for the geotechnical and contaminated land division in Nicholls Colton Group. He has a broad range of project management experience and has led detailed site assessments of new developments on brownfield land, residential sites, commercial sites, highways, coal mining areas and soil and gas contaminated land. He is responsible for the technical direction of the department and has contributed or led the departmental health & safety, quality and training. In 2018 Kevin has managed the expansion of the drilling services.

In his spare time Kevin enjoys swimming and coaching a local masters swimming team. Weekends are spent coaching his sons U11’s rugby team and supporting the Wasps.

Lee Harbottle- National Diploma in Building Studies, SMSTS – Site Management Safety Training Scheme, 1st Aider, CSCS 

As the GCM Operations Manager Lee is  the manager responsible for all non-environmental laboratory testing and non- structures site testing, e.g. in situ CBR, concrete testing, plate bearing testing and site monitoring.

Having completed a National Diploma in Building Studies before starting with Nicholls Colton in 1989.  After working on numerous site laboratories including 3 years as a materials engineer on CRTL (Channel Tunnel) Lee spent 6 years as a project supervisor responsible for carrying out testing on concrete structures.  In 2007 Lee joined the laboratory team and is now the GCM Operations.  In his spare time Lee is a keen cyclist, taking part in many events throughout the UK. 

Martin Krajenski – BSc (Hons) Engineering Geology and Geotechnics.

As the group estimating manager Martin is responsible for the registration, appraisal, production and issue of enquiries. 

Martin has over 35yrs experience in the construction industry and in various sectors of Nicholls Colton Group. Although he has worked for Nicholls Colton for over 30years this is his third job. His previous experience being approximately 1 year in Iran (cut short by a Revolution) and 9 months in Sudan.  His is often heard saying to his work colleagues ‘When I was in the Sudan’!!

Stephanie Llewellyn- Chartered MCIPD

As Human Resource Manger Steph is responsible for  all human resource matters across the group. 

Steph has over 26 years experience in the HR profession. She has previously worked for a number of large organiations including  Swanswell Charitable Trust, Lafarge Tarmac, Clipper Logistics, Galliford Try, Babcock (Nuclear, Defence and Airports) and Mattel Toys. Her key skills are; Management of TUPE, Site Closures, Recruitment &selection, Complex ER Case work, trade union negotiations and managing employee benefits. 

After being born in Canada, Stephanie moved over to the UK during her childhood and since then has developed a love for all animals including her beloved dog Missie!

Tanweer Sharif 

As the Business Manager (Southern Region) Tanweer is responsible for the day to day management of the Southern office including the drainage department. 

Bringing over 20 years experience in this sector, Tanweer Sharif was appointed Nicholls Colton Southern Business Manager at the end of 2017.As a college leaver with a HND in Building Studies, Tanweer began his career working on Site Investigation and Drainage projects back in the 90’s.Always keen to learn he honed his skillset in the drainage sector and has bought his vast experience in this area as a new service offering to Nicholls Colton.  With a loyal core client base, Tanweer can be relied upon to ensure his team continues to deliver clients a reactive service delivered in a timely manner, meeting all requirements as a minimum and impressing on his team to perform beyond expectations. 

Outside working hours, Tanweer’s time is taken up primarily by his 9 year old daughter, but when she allows him to he remains a competitive veteran footballer and enjoys watching sports, contemporary dramas and music.

Tina Brown – Level 4 Diploma in Customer Service and ACIB (associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers)

As the Commercial Manager Tina is responsible for group credit control, financial and commercial checking, group monthly billing and assisting in contractual and commercial matters. 

Tina has 23 Years in retail banking covering various roles from Bank Manager, Customer Service Manager, Risk Manager, Sales Manager and Area Trainer.

 In her spare time Tina is a keen painter and has had her painting displayed at two exhibitions in the past year! 

Ian Elliot- QUALS

As CEO for Nicholls Colton Group, Ian has overall responsibility for creating, planning, implementing, and integrating the strategic direction of an organization.  Ian has over 30 years experience within the industry with a background in structural investigation and site and laboratory testing including pavement evaluation and new build constructional activities.

Away from the working environment Ian is the volunteer lead for Waterpolo in England and Britain, working with both Swim England and British Swimming to plan and deliver the sport from participation through to our international men’s, women’s; senior and junior teams.  He also coaches at club level and can still occasionally be found in the pool for masters events.

Peter Swanston- 

As the the Environmental Laboratories Manager, Peter is responsible for the  overall running of the Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Asbestos Laboratories. He has over 20 years experience working within the Contaminated Land and Waste Water sectors, having  worked at a number of large commercial laboratories in the UK. He has a degree in Chemistry.

Peter joined Nicholls Colton in 2013 as Organics Manager, and has overseen the rapid development of the laboratory. He has increasingly taken on responsibility for other areas of the laboratory, including Inorganics and Asbestos; and he is closely involved in all aspects of the UKAS and MCERTS accreditation requirements.

Luigi Sorrentio- HNC in Civil Engineering, BTEC level 4 Business Improvement, IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management

As the quality manager Luigi is currently responsible for the Quality Management System and Nicholls Colton Group.

Luigi is an Incorporated Civil Engineer (MICE) with over 30 years experience working within the construction and highways materials testing sector. He has an in-depth knowledge of laboratory management with respect to UKAS/ ISO17025 accreditation and certification to ISO9001.  He is also a Practitioner member of the Chartered Quality Institute with an in-depth knowledge of quality and management systems.

In his spare time, Luigi

Danielle Elliot- Bsc Hons, CIMA Management Accounting, 

Danielle joined the group in 2016 and has worked in numerous departments including, environmental monitoring, sales and account before starting her current role as Commercial development manager. Working with the newly appointed Chris Darlington (Commercial director) , Danielle is responsible for group commercial matters, developing  group efficiencies and monitoring the group budget. 

In her spare time Danielle is a keen triathlete and has taken part in ironman triathlons in 2015 and 2017.
