aw2Alex Warwick BEng, CEng, MICE, SiLC – Managing Director

Alex has 25 years’ experience in geotechnical and geo-environmental investigation and consultancy. He is a Registered SiLC (Specialist in Land Condition), a Chartered Civil Engineer, and holds an honours degree in Civil Engineering.

Alex began work at Nicholls Colton in 1987, as a Junior Geotechnical Engineer. Today he is the Director responsible for the geotechnical and structural divisions of the Group, as well as being the joint owner and Managing Director of the Nicholls Colton Group, with Ian Elliot.

 

 

ie2Ian Elliot DMS, MIATManaging Director

Ian has over 25 years’ experience with Nicholls Colton. His expertise in materials testing extends to bridge, pavement and building investigations and he has specialist laboratory testing experience across a wide range of constructional materials.

Today Ian is the Financial Director, Company Secretary and the Director responsible for Nicholls Colton Analytical and Nicholls Colton Testing, as well as being joint owner and Managing Director for the Nicholls Colton Group, with Alex Warwick.

 

 

msMike Shelbourne BSc (Hons)Director – Operations UK & Ireland

Mike has over 20 years’ experience within the environmental industry and has been instrumental in developing a number of high profile laboratories. He joined Nicholls Colton to bring significant commercial and organisational skills to further develop Nicholls Colton Analytical as a commercial laboratory.

Mike has overall responsibility for the operational development of the Leicester facilities in line with rapidly developing customer and regulatory requirements; including the addition of regional service centres.

 

 

gaGuy AndersonGroup Health and Safety Manager

Guy joined Nicholls Colton in 1981 initially working in site laboratories on road contracts and then undertaking specialist inspections on site and at concrete pre-cast and steel fabrication works around the UK.

In 1998 Guy became the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager. He is an Incorporated Engineer and a Chartered Member of The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. Guy is responsible for the health, safety, environmental, administrative and personnel management of the Nicholls Colton Group.

 

 

jdJohn Davies BSc (Hons) Operations Manager

John has 20 years’ experience working in the civil engineering business, having worked for a local authority, a major consultant, and a contractor. He has a degree in Construction.

John joined Nicholls Colton Testing in 1996 and together with Ian Jackson he has joint responsibility for Nicholls Colton Testing, overseeing the operational delivery of all bridge, building and pavement schemes undertaken. He is responsible also for managing the sales and marketing.

 

 

nhNick Hutt BEng (Hons)Principal Geo-Environmental Engineer

Nick has 20 years experience as a geotechnical and geo-environmental engineer. Nick joined Nichols Colton in 1992 as a Geotechnical Engineer. He has a degree in civil engineering, and has a wealth of experience in foundations, contaminated land and mine workings. As well as managing the geotechnical team, Nick is responsible for the estimating and technical output of the department.

 

 

leesimpsonLee Simpson BEng (Hons), CEng, MICEPrincipal Structural Engineer

Lee has 18 years’ structural design experience covering foundations, retaining walls, superstructures, existing structures, and Party Wall issues. He has a First Class Honours degree in civil engineering, and is a Chartered Civil Engineer.

Lee joined Nicholls Colton Structural at its inception in 2010, and he is responsible for the technical output of the department, the day to day running of the projects and staff, and the estimating, fee proposals and client management.

 

 

ijIan Jackson BSc (Hons)Commercial Manager

During the 14 years’ since graduating from Salford University with a degree in Civil Engineering, Ian has both worked in, and managed, site laboratories for a number of civil engineering contractors. In 1998 he joined Nicholls Colton as an estimator for NCT, and is currently employed as Commercial Manager for the Nicholls Colton Group.

Along with John Davies, he has joint responsibility for Nicholls Colton Testing, overseeing the commercial running of the department. He is also responsible for the production of factual and interpretative reports.

 

 

lsLuigi Sorrentino HNC IEng MICEOperations Manager UK & Ireland

Luigi joined Nicholls Colton in 1985 as a trainee engineering assistant and worked in the structural design and geotechnical departments of the company before gaining an HNC in Civil Engineering and progressing in the laboratory to Laboratory Manager.

 

 

kwKevin Willfratt BSc (Hons), FGSSenior Geo-Environmental Engineer

Kevin joined Nicholls Colton in 1998 as an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer, having spent a year with Geotechnics Ltd. A geology graduate, Kevin has 14 years experience in the geotechnical and geo-environmental sectors. Highly experienced in contaminated land assessments, Kevin is a skilled negotiator with local authority and other regulators. Together with Nick, he is responsible for business development.

 

 

mkMartin Krajenski BSc (Hons)Estimating Manager

Martin has over 30 years’ experience, most of which have been with Nicholls Colton. He has a Degree in Engineering Geology and Geotechnics and a further Diploma in Highways Construction and Management. Martin started out as a site engineer on various projects in the UK before setting up the Materials Investigation Department to investigate structures and pavements.

Martin is the Estimating Manager and Senior Materials Engineer to Nicholls Colton Testing.

 

 

bcBen CaveyQuality and IT Manager

Ben is a graduate Civil Engineer with 14 years’ experience. A civil, geotechnical, hydro-geological and environmental engineer in his native Australia, he eventually joined Nicholls Colton as a geotechnical Engineer in 2000.

Instrumental in making some key IT improvements to the Geotechnical Department, Ben was a natural choice to head-up the Group’s IT and Quality departments.
