Bespoke Six Bedroomed Substantial Manor House
Client: Private Developer
Nicholls Colton Structural was appointed to undertake the design of this unique and very large Manor House being built to exacting standards for a discerning individual. The ground conditions had already been investigated by Nicholls Colton Geotechnical, and our satisfied client wished to continue with a seamless consultancy service.
The ground conditions were less than ideal, comprising in part an in-filled landfill and an old sewage farm. As a result, the foundation solution was tricky, and required careful and detailed structural design. Nicholls Colton devised a practical and cost effective design that exceeded our client’s expectations.
Our design work included carrying out the sub-structure and super-structure calculations. Given the substantial nature of the new dwelling, and its unique layout, the structural aspects of the work were complex, and required steel work design as well as masonry stabilisation calculations. The entire design process was bespoke, and obliged Nicholls Colton Structural to proactively manage the works.
Working in conjunction with Nicholls Colton Geotechnical, the structural team identified an appropriate design for the full gas protection required to be incorporated at the property – no easy task given the nature of the structure.
Nicholls Colton Structural worked tirelessly with the client, the architect, site contractors and building control, to deliver a unique project, to time. Our client was absolutely delighted with our service, and the resultant building.
