Asbestos Quantification added to UKAS accreditations!

Investment  in new facility adds Asbestos Quantification  to UKAS accreditation

Due to increased demand by our customers, Nicholls Colton has expanded its Asbestos test facilities and increased scope of UKAS accreditation to include Asbestos Quantification.

The new facility was commissioned in November 2018, with accreditation gained in January 2019.

Quantification, as the name suggests, is essentially measuring the amount of asbestos in a given sample. This is a four stage process, (others may use only 3) Initial identification, gravimetric analysis and removal of visible asbestos, detailed gravimetric analysis and removal of asbestos viewed via microscopy and finally, if required, free/dispersed fibre analysis.

Our employees hold a minimum of the BOHS P401 qualification, plus designated staff are further trained to be qualified to BOHS P402, P403, P404, P405 and CoC (Asbestos), as may be required.

Nicholls Colton Group Limited also participates in the proficiency testing schemes AIMS (Asbestos in Materials Scheme), AISS (Asbestos in Soils Scheme) and RICE (Regular Interlaboratory Counting Exchanges).
